Neil Thompson (1760-1814) was born in Cumberland County, Virginia and moved at a young age to Kingston Springs, Tennessee. There he married Elizabeth Gentry and they became the parents of eleven children. One of their children was William Thompson (1781-1872) who married Mary Scott (1788-1870) and was the father of seven children. Descendants live in Tennessee, Texas, Nebraska, Oregon and other parts of the United States
